It (2012)

If there is one thing that I have always thank the Lord for that is giving me parents named Elijah and Burree Williams.   I thank God the love that they gave, the support that was given, and the discipline to teach me.  But most of all was the life that Daddy lived and Momma is still living, and through that life they taught me about a man name Jesus.  

Proverbs 22:6 tells us to “Train up a child in the way that he (or she) should go, and when he or (she) is old, he (or she) will not depart from it.  What is the “it” that the Bible speaks of, as many who have been raised in the church, have strayed away from the teachings of the church, and the Christ himself?  As many have strayed away from the Lord, yet the Bible says if a parent raised a child in way that he or she could go, the “it” will not depart from it.

So what is the “it”?  It is the teaching, when sound biblical teaching is placed in a child, even when they are in sin, even when they wrong, the teachings will still be there.  Makes no difference, how much one might fornicate, lie, steal, gamble, or whatever, the teachings or the teachings that was place in them, the way that they should not leave or depart from them, even though they might depart from the teachings.  I know from personal experience.  

As I said in the beginning, I was raised by saved parent, good parents, and loving and supporting parents, yet still I found myself out of the standards that they set before me.  But even in my backsliding, the Word of God that was placed in me as a child was there all the time in my spirit. Like the Apostle Paul said in Romans 7, when I tried to do, evil was always present, and though the good I should have done, I didn’t do that, and that I shouldn’t have done, that I did.  But Paul said the reason that he knew that it was wrong, because he was taught the Law, he knew that though shall not kill, though shall not steal, and so on.   And because even in his sin, he could not rest and said, Oh! Wretched man that I am, what shall save me from this body of sin…..why because “it” was put in Him.

And because of the “it” put in me, I was blessed enough to received it, which is not an it, but a Him, which is the Holy Ghost, and the it was the manifestation that comes with receiving the Holy Ghost.   And with the it came power to over Satan, with the it, came peace of mind, with the it, came eternal life.  But what did not come was assurance.

All a parent can do is raised a child in the way that he or she should go…..again should go.  There is no guarantee that that child will go that way.  Many children who was raised in the church, have left the church, sadly many will go to Hell, as too much who is given, much is required.     So they and myself included will have no excuse when we stand before the Lord in judgment, because they were taught the way that they should go.   But even when they do depart from the way that they were taught, I speak from experience, that we know better, even in the pleasure of sin….we know better.   The teaching will always be there, obey or not, it’s there.   As parents all we can do is give our children the foundation which to stand, which is Christ Jesus, and no matter what they do, it the teaching, it the mortals, it the way that they should go, will not depart.
