A Little Less High Fives….

Let say first and foremost that I am not talking about any particular minister, so if you think that I am talking about someone, that someone who ever you think they may be….you are wrong.   Let the truth be known, I love a good hooping message as much as anyone else and all of the Pentecostal flare that comes with it…..But at the same time, not only does the unsaved, but the Church as well need more than giving your neighbor a high five, or anything else that makes up the charisma of today most spirited ministers, because people are hurting and they need real answers, for real people, from a real God.

The Lord did not bring me out of the RECOVERY ROOM to forget about those who are still in there, as in there are the youths, married couples, singles, divorces, preachers, pastors, deacons, missionaries, choir members, ushers, trustees, who have been slung with oil, shouted up and down the rows, spoke in tongues, and yet have not found deliverance.  As there is power and freedom in the praise, but there is more power when biblical principles when added to the praise.  If not, then all we will have emotion without knowledge.

As we the “church” must stop lying with cute slogans and bumper sticker religion.  As we are not, no matter how much we say it, we are not going to tear Satan kingdom down.  It sounds cute, but Satan’s kingdom is here to stay until the Lord comes back and put him in the pit.  Our job as believers is to make sure that His kingdom doesn’t grow.  Or one of my favorite ones…..”Too bless to be stress”, or “Too anointed to be disappointed”.  When the Bible clearly says that in this life we would have trials and tribulations, it tells us as much as Christ suffered in the flesh; we are to armed ourselves likewise.  The fact is that we will have ups and downs, stressful moments in our lives, but the greater fact that in the midst of it all, in Christ we shall have peace.   For what has happen to the doctrine of fasting and prayer, in the world of a “RIGHT NOW GOD”…..what happen to the words of David, to “wait on the Lord and to be of good courage”.   As these things are a part of life, as we must learn how to endure hardness as a good solider of the Lord Jesus Christ.

But because if we do not teach these biblical truths, we have a bunch of people looking for a quick fix, when at the times the Lord is saying my grace is enough.  We need to stop lying to people, there will be tears in our lives, if not; why did Jesus say that I’ll wipe all tears from your eyes?   There will be sickness, there will be heartache, there will be sorrows, but in the midst of it all, in Christ we can have peace.  As that is the truth of the matter.

Yes! Life has its ups and down, and like the song writer says…”the good outweighs the bad, so I won’t complain”.   Am I against the outward manifestations of praise, heck No!  I am Pentecostal to the bone.   But let us learn to depend more on the power of Pentecost than the manifestation of Pentecost.  The power to endure, power to overcome, power to give thanks in all things, and most of all, power to be His witness in all the earth.    So the next time you reach over to give your neighbor a high five, also reach out to them and lift them higher in the love of God.

  1. Bishop Bubby,

This message is on point. Exactly what I needed to hear and confirms what the Lord has been dealing with me about. Thank you so much for allowing the Lord to continue to break you down and your humbleness to receive corrections and your ability to apply and teach the lessons you’ve learned.

    God Bless You
