The Quilt of Giving

This blog will not win me friends upon my Clarion family, but I know it’s from God, so here it goes, as I attempt to go out of the box, but stay in the book.

I cannot and will not write this blog without being fair, and with that let me say that there is a blessing in giving monetary to the Lord’s Church.  But at the same time, I am trouble how the church has taken the blessing of giving and turns it into a quilt trip to the believers in the church.  Now in Malachi 3:18, the question is ask, will a man rob God?   The answer comes back, that yes, and you have robbed me in tithes and offerings.   So when it’s comes to tithes, it’s no quilt trip, it is what it is, 10 percent of your first fruit.  Touch it not, it’s holy unto God.  We are never to pay out tithes; we are to bring our tithes, for the tithe is not ours.   Now when it comes to your offering, there is no set amount, so how can one rob God if there is no set amount.  Because as the Bible says He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.   The question is what is sparingly, I think the answer can be found in the story of the widow’s mite, as it was not the amount she gave, but what she gave, she gave of her substance, though it was the lowest amount.  And so Jesus said that it was her who gave the most.  So someone $5.00, might be someone $5,000, but it not the amount, but the heart of the giver.  So in this way we can rob God in our offerings, by giving less, when we can give more.   Now let me get in trouble.

This where the church falls off the wagon, as we teach the amount and not the heart of the giver, and it’s this teaching we have put many people in quilt.  The only offering commanded by God is tithe and the offering, not the Pastor Anniversary, not Men’s Day, not Women’s Day, not Building fund (I am in trouble now)…..just tithes and offering.   Should we give to these other things…Yes! But you are not out of the will of God if you don’t.   There is a blessing in giving to God’s service, but don’t give your rent, your mortgage, your utilities,  as the Bible says the wicked don’t pay their debt and if you owe someone, then pay them, this money does not below to God, it belongs to our bills or whatever.   But because we have added guilt to areas of giving that God never told us to do, we have souls missing church, sitting up in church in bondage, when Jesus came to set us free.

Now in closing, there is a BLESSING to give in God’s program, outside of your offering, and I do believe in sacrificial offerings, but they are not to make souls feel inadequate, or to make someone feel less saved, or make someone feel that they are more saved.  Yes! I say again, you can be blessed by giving to God’s servant,  and He did say, give and I’ll will give it back to you, but again, if we just preached the amount and not the heart, we lead one to believe that the Lord is more concern about my wallet than He is concern about me.   Because I can’t get a blessing if I have lost my job, I can get a blessing if I don’t make as much as the doctors or lawyers in the church, I can’t get a blessing  if I work at McDonald, but again, I say that this is not so.  (PROVE IT PREACHER)…. “For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not”.  (1ST Corinthians 8:12)  So again, it’s the mind of the giver and not the amount of the gift, so never let one you feel guilty when you have given your best gift.   Because He will understand and say well done!!!!!!
