Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit…uhmm

Please, I repeat…. please do not make this a Heaven or Hell issue, because it is far from it.  Matter of fact it might hold little or no importance at all.  So because of it, I will put it in the “I Byron” category.  Or the TBV, the T Byron Version of the Bible.

Over the years the term Holy Ghost has been replaced by a lot of Christians to the term Holy Spirit.  And while I don’t agree that the Holy Ghost (or Spirit) is the third person or personality of the Godhead Trinity, but a title in the Godhead of One God with One Name, but for the most part the  title Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit are interchangeable in today churches.  But  Byron, being Bubby I am not sure if they are one in the same and that is why with my ole fashion self, I still used the term Holy Ghost.

In my understanding a spirit is something that can influence a human body, or move through the natural realm, but never having a physical body of itself. Genesis 1:2 tells us “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”  Not his Ghost, but His Spirit.  John 24:4 tells us that God is a Spirit, but because God cannot die, He had to take on human form to die to save our souls.

Now in my understanding again, a ghost is someone who has died and come back to life…..Lord! Feel like shouting on that one.  Thus when Jesus rose and appeared unto His decuples, He said…receive ye the Holy Ghost.   Now I know, that this is only one translation, some say spirit, some say ghost…..this is just Byron being Bubby.   Maybe it’s just the ole sanctified church coming out of me, but I love the term…..Holy Ghost.   But whatever you call Him, make sure you have the Holy Ghost (or Spirit)
